Dynaudio sound quality inside a Volvo is already a tradition: As early as 2001, the outgoing model C70 was awarded the "Best Car Stereo System" accolade by the influential American luxury lifestyle publication "Robb Report" for having the best factory-fitted sound system.
The new 2006 Volvo C70 surpasses the benchmark set by its predecessor once again. Patrick Widerstrand, Project Manager for the completely new C70 model, emphasizes the impressive requirements: "The aim has been to offer a first-rate sound experience which remains consistent regardless of where or how you drive. With the C70 we can offer what is the best sound experience ever in a Volvo". This underscores Volvo's goal to yet again set new standards for In-Car Entertainment - Back in 1998, Volvo was the world's first automotive manufacturer ever to present a car fitted with an integrated Dolby Surround system.
To set such new standards for the ultimate sound experience, highly advanced Dolby Pro Logic II digital Surround processor technology and unprecedented powerful amplification, totaling 910 Watts, were combined with the latest generation of Dynaudio loudspeakers.
Twelve (12) individual speakers are mounted in front and rear compartments of the car's interior space: High power handling, midrange and bass woofers utilizing powerful motor structures and equipped with Dynaudio's proprietary MSP cone diaphragms for increased dynamics and advanced performance capabilities; two extraordinarily large dome mid-range speakers with specially coated soft-domes for increased clarity, and smaller coated soft-dome tweeters for accurate treble reproduction highlight the system.
