The specially coated textile dome eliminates any high frequency break-ups, while providing improved damping characteristics as well. The Mobile Fidelity tweeters and soft-dome midrange units also feature large diameter aluminum voice coils. The heat produced by the voice coil is dissipated to the magnet system with the help of the cooling liquid.
The rear chambers are sealed and acoustically damped to eliminate high frequency distortion, which could be caused by back-wave reflections. Dynaudio has been able to package these units in a much smaller chassis to allow it to integrate in a wider range of install applications and locations.
The soft-dome design topology allows unrestricted dynamics and a linear frequency response. The tweeters feature treated textile domes and Magnaflux (magnetic-fluid) cooled, hexagonally cut, pure aluminum wire voice coils and heat-treated aluminum bobbins, and powerful neodymium magnet systems.
To eliminate high frequency distortions caused by reflections from inside the structure, the tweeter rear chamber is also sealed and acoustically damped.
Both the tweeters and soft-dome midrange utilize an optimized dome geometry, which effectively allows the drivers to gradually change with frequency from a ball to a ring transducer. In conventional designs, the surround of the driver and the outer edge of the driver membrane are moving in opposite phase and canceling each other's output at various frequencies.
Dynaudio has undertaken extensive research into the shaping of these parts to ensure that the long linear excursions essential to high output levels are maintained without this type of interference.
The optimized dome geometry and the low mass of the moving parts ensure a very transparent and detailed reproduction of all frequencies in the Mobile Fidelity tweeters and soft-dome midrange. The well damped resonance frequency and the cooling properties of the Magnaflux (ferrofluid) in the magnetic gap provide high power handling, even when these drivers are used with simple crossovers.
The Dynaudio Mobile Fidelity mid/woofers also utilize the same core technology as the company's home audio products, and are available in various sizes, all equipped with large 3" (75mm) pure aluminum wire voice coils and heat treated aluminum bobbins. The woofer diaphragm is composed of a proprietary MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) material also developed by Dynaudio.
